In 2002, Justin
Gatlin established himself as the NCAA's best sprinter. He swept four NCAA sprint
titles, running his total to six consecutive NCAA individual titles dating back
to 2001. No other Volunteer has ever won six NCAA titles in any sport.
Gatlin
was Track and Field News' Collegiate Athlete of the Year, SEC Male Track and Field
Athlete of the Year and UT's Male Athlete of the Year (in all sports). He owns
an unbelievable 12 All-America honors and led his team to the 2002 NCAA indoor
track title (the first time in Tennessee history) and the SEC outdoor title.
