2003 Male Professional Athlete of the Year

Steve McNair, Tennessee Titans

Steve McNair, quarterback for the Tennessee Titans, established career bests this season while he carried the Titans to the AFC South Division title. To date, he has 301 completions, 3,387 passing yards and 22 touchdowns on 492 attempts. McNair started every game and led the team to 10 victories in its last 11 games. He finished third in MVP voting and was named All Pro by Sport's Illustrated's Paul Zimmerman.

During the month of December, McNair gained notoriety for leading the team to a perfect 5-0 record without practicing due to three separate injuries. He set a franchise record with 23 consecutive games in which he threw at least one touchdown pass.
