The 2005-06
season was very exciting for Nashville Predators hockey fans.
The NHL team, in its seventh season, finished 49-25-8 and
shattered franchise records in wins (49) and points (106).
The team
had 32 victories on home ice leading the NHL in home ice victories.
Out of the gate, the team won its first eight games. Not only
was the eight-game run a franchise record for the longest
winning streak, it also ranked as the second best start in
NHL history. The Predators made it to the NHL playoffs for
the second time in their history as they earned the No. 4
seed in the Western Conference in the 2006 Stanley Cup playoffs.
The team picked up where they left off as the 2006-07 NHL
season commenced in October. From November 1 to December 31,
2006, the Predators posted the top record (19-6-2, .741) in
the entire NHL.
Nashville
had five players representing their countries in the 2006
Winter Olympic Games in Italy; four brought home medals.
