In 2006, the Union University Lady Bulldogs claimed their second straight NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship. It was the third national championship in the program's history and the team capped off its sixth straight 30-plus win season with a 31-6 record.

Ena Daniels and Tiffany Fisher were named NAIA All-American. Three players were named to the NAIA All-National Tournament Team and four were given TranSouth All-Conference honors.

Coach Mark Campbell, in his seventh season as head coach, surpassed the 200-career win mark and was named 2006 NAIA Coach of the Year.
