After
a nine-year title drought, the LadyVols captured an elusive
seventh national title on April 3rd, beating Rutgers to the
ball for second and third shots in a 59-46 win to reclaim
their customary place above all other programs. The NCAA Division
I National Championship Title was the seventh in team history
and the seventh for Coach Pat Summitt.
That victory
was the 947th win for the Hall of Fame Coach Summitt. The
2007 Lady Vols smoked the program record for best defensive
average, allowing just 55.5 points per contest. Candace Parker
earned Most Outstanding Player honors and Nicky Anosike and
Shannon Bobbitt joined her on the All-Final Four Team. The
team finished the season with an impressive 34-3 record and
three ESPY award nominations for the team, Coach Summitt and
for Candace Parker.
