in Anniston, Alabama, Butler joined the University of Memphis as an inside linebacker.
A three-year starter, he was ranked the team's top tackler in both his junior
and senior seasons. Finishing his U of M career with 384 total tackles and seven
pass interceptions, he was named to the 1977 All-South Independent team and the
Associated Press All-American squad. Drafted
by the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League, Butler started in three
games his rookie season and remained a regular for the Seahawks for 10 years.
A five-year defensive captain for the Seahawks, he started 132 of 146 career games,
and currently ranks 3rd in games played and started for the Seahawks. Additionally,
he ranks as the second all-time leading Seahawk tackler with 813. Keith
and his wife, Janet, have three sons: Blake, Brandon and Brett. |
