the Nashville Arena), right in the heart of downtown Nashville,
at the corner of 5th and Broadway. There you'll find lots
of neat ideas for a great field trip all under one huge roof.

We will
custom design any trip to fit the size, age and interest of
your group. Depending on the amount of time available in your
day, you may choose to tour the Arena, learn about hockey,
or visit the exciting displays in the Tennessee Sports Hall
of Fame Museum.

After
a brief introductory video in one of our two theaters, students are encouraged
to explore and experience the museum on their own using our student activity booklet
filled with learning activities and facts. Young
students will enjoy playing colorful "I SPY" while older students will
race through a scavenger hunt for facts. The museum has several interactive displays,
two video games, a virtual reality basketball room, Olympic training equipment
and artifacts galore. | |

| On this
tour, students will take a behind the scenes look at the Arena.
They will learn interesting facts, hear the history and notice
unique architectural elements of the facility. They'll visit
an exclusive suite, imagine themselves on stage, learn how ice
is made and gaze in the mirror of a star's dressing room. From
hockey to rodeos to beauty pageants to concerts, The Sommet
Center hosts it all. |
Scheduling
Your Visit
Education
programs and tours are scheduled for groups of ten or more students. We ask that
you schedule your visit 2-4 weeks in advance (summer dates fill up especially
quick). Please note that all programs have a maximum number of students, however,
larger groups may be accommodated with special planning. Call the museum with
specific details of your group. To
make a reservation Please
review the tour descriptions and choose the programs you are interested in. Then,
contact the Sports Hall of Fame by telephone at 615-242-4750. After the museum
completes your reservation, a confirmation letter will be sent, along with a student
activity guide for review. Directions
The Sommet Center
is located at 501 Broadway (at the corner of Broadway and 5th Ave).
From I-40 West/I-65
North, take I-40 West when the interstate splits, then take Exit
# 2098, "Demonbreun Street." Turn right onto Demonbreun
Street, traveling toward downtown Nashville. The Sommet Center is
7 blocks ahead on the left.
From I-40 East/I-65
South, take Exit # 209B, "Broadway." Take a left onto
Broadway, traveling toward downtown Nashville. The Sommet Center
is seven blocks ahead on the right.
Parking
is located behind the GEC on 6th Ave. and on Demonbreun at 5th Ave. Average cost
for these lots is $5-12. |
