Tennessee and Middle Tennessee State will meet in the inaugural Midstate Classic softball game on March 18 in Columbia, Tenn.
The game was announced Thursday in Columbia .
“We’ve got almost a brand new softball facility,” Columbia city manager Tony Massey told the News Sentinel. “We’ll turnthis into an event.” Massey was the city manager in Bristol when UT and Virginia Tech played the State Line Classic.
He thought the idea would be appealing inColumbia and both teams agreed.
There’s no doubt who will be favored. The Lady Vols were runners-up last spring in the Women’s College World Series. MTSU finished 7- 47.
