Tennessee has promoted Jimmy Stanton to senior associate athletics director for communications.
Stanton had held the title of associate athletics director for communications since August 2010. Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart announced Stanton’s promotion Thursday in a university release.
Stanton serves as the athletic department’s primary spokesman and communications strategist. His roles also include leading Tennessee’s football communications team and handling media affairs for football coach Butch Jones.
Before coming to Tennessee, Stanton had worked as Kentucky’s executive director of public relations and marketing. He also has been director of media relations for the Houston Astros and assistant director of media relations for the Tennessee Titans.
