Biography

A native of South Carolina, Stanley Morgan joined the University of Tennessee football program in 1973. While at Tennessee, he was voted All-Southeastern Conference in 1974 and 1976. The versatile Morgan still leads the list of career all-purpose yards leaders with 4,642 yards. He also ranks third in career touchdowns; with 39, and was the first Volunteer running back to rush for 200 yards in a single game. In 1977, Stanley Morgan was drafted in the first round by the New England Patriots, where he was named Patriot Rookie of the Year.

In addition, he was named to the NFL All-Rookie team. He was also chosen All-Pro four times: 1980, 1981, 1987 and 1988. Morgan holds the NFL record as the only receiver to average over 20 yards per catch in his first six seasons. He reached the 10,000 yards mark more quickly than any other receiver in NFL history. After playing with the Patriots for 13 years, Morgan went on to play with the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos, each one season. Stanley Morgan is president of Mid-South Sports Management, and resides in Memphis with his wife, Rholedia and two daughters.
