Biography

Terry Crisp is from Parry Sound, Ontario and had a shining career as an NHL player and head coach before becoming the beloved sports analyst for the Nashville Predators he’s known as today.

Crisp was explosive on the ice. He posted 201 points (67g-134a) in 536 games during his 11 seasons in the NHL as a player for the Boston Bruins, the inaugural team for the St. Louis Blues, the inaugural team of the New York Islanders and Philadelphia Flyers. He won three Stanley Cup Championships – two as a player with the Flyers (1974 and 1975) and one as a coach with Calgary (1989). He is one of only 14 people to have won the Cup as both player and head coach.

Crisp was the head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning from the franchise’s inception in 1992 through October 1997, coaching 391 games. He held the record for most games coached by an expansion franchise’s first coach until 2003. Crisp also served as the assistant coach of the silver medal-winning Canadian team at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville, France.

After he retired from the NHL, he set his sights on sports analysis. Crisp is entering his 22nd year with the Nashville Predators, providing analysis during the club’s television broadcasts. He regularly contributes insight to the Predators’ website. Crisp has also worked as a studio analyst for Canada’s TSN during the 2000, 2002 and 2003 IIHF World Championships.

From the franchise’s first season in 1998 until 2013-14, Crisp worked alongside Pete Weber, forming one of the most well-known broadcast duos in the League. A part of the Predators’ Emmy-winning broadcasts in 2003, 2008 and 2010, Crisp served as a color analyst for FOX Sports during the 1998-99 season and during the 1998 and 1999 Stanley Cup Finals, and has served in a similar capacity for TSN in past years.

Crisp and his wife, Sheila, reside in Nashville. The Crisp’s have three children – sons Tony and Jeff, and daughter Caley, and 10 grandchildren.

Welcome to the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2020, Terry Crisp.
