Biography

Chamique Holdsclaw is one of the most accomplished players in women’s basketball history.

At the University of Tennessee, she led the Lady Vols to three consecutive NCAA Championships from 1996–98, including the historic undefeated 1997–98 season. A two-time Naismith Player of the Year, Holdsclaw finished her college career as Tennessee’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder.

Drafted first overall in the 1999 WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics, she was named WNBA Rookie of the Year and went on to six All-Star selections.

Holdsclaw also represented Team USA, winning Olympic gold in 2000.

Beyond her remarkable on-court career, Holdsclaw has become an outspoken advocate for mental health awareness, sharing her own journey to help break stigmas and support others. Her induction into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame celebrates both her dominant career and her courageous leadership in championing mental health and wellness in sports.
