Biography

Derrick Mason is one of the most productive wide receivers in NFL history and a standout figure in Tennessee sports.

After a stellar college career at Michigan State, Mason was drafted by the Tennessee Oilers in 1997. He quickly became a favorite target thanks to his precise route running, sure hands, and fearless play.

Mason played eight seasons in Tennessee, earning Pro Bowl honors and helping the Titans reach Super Bowl XXXIV. He remains the franchise’s all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards.

Beyond his receiving ability, Mason was an elite return specialist, showcasing his versatility and toughness. He finished his NFL career with over 12,000 receiving yards, playing for the Ravens and Jets as well.

Off the field, Mason has been involved in youth football and community service initiatives. His induction into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame celebrates a career defined by excellence, consistency, and leadership both on and off the field.
