The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame joins Tennesseans and fans around the world in mourning the passing of Dolly Parton, a beloved Tennessee icon and the Hall of Fame’s 2020 Tennessean of the Year.
A native of Sevier County, Parton became one of the most recognizable and influential entertainers in the world while remaining deeply connected to her Tennessee roots. Her remarkable career, philanthropy and commitment to giving back made her an enduring ambassador for the Volunteer State.
In 2020, the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame honored Parton as its Tennessean of the Year, an award recognizing individuals whose accomplishments, character and contributions have brought distinction to the state of Tennessee.
