Biography

For the second consecutive year, the Martin Methodist women’s soccer team is being honored by the TSHF. The team, coached by Gerry Cleary, won the 2007 NAIA National Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida. Their final season record was 19-4-1, and they were undefeated in the TranSouth Athletic Conference. The team entered the tournament as the fifth-seed and captured their second title in three seasons. In addition to being the 2007 NAIA Champions, the team was the TranSouth Conference Champion for the fourth consecutive year, and the NAIA Region XI Champion. Martin Methodist College had nine players chosen to the All-Region XI Teams. Junior Lisa Mann was selected the Region XI Player of the Year and head coach Gerry Cleary was selected Region XI Coach of the Year. In addition, defender Marcia Silva earned the Brine-NAIA Player of the Year honor for 2007 and six RedHawks were selected NAIA All-Americans. On January 18th, Coach Cleary was named the 2007 Brine-NAIA Women’s Soccer National Coach of the Year.
