Biography

“He gives 110 per cent on every play, and does things well enough that you point to him and say, ‘Do it the way Rosenfelder does.’“ So said Tennessee line coach Ray Trail of guard Charles Rosenfelder, a mainstay of the Volunteer offensive line from 1966 to 1968. Rosenfelder and his Tennessee teammates posted a 25-7-1 record over three years, and played in the Gator, Orange, and Cotton bowls. His talents were widely recognized. Twice a first team All-SEC selection, in 1968 Rosenfelder was a consensus All-American. Playing at 6’1, 208 pounds, he would be considered downright tiny by today’s standards. But game after game, he scored the highest of all Vol offensive linemen and led sweeps by speedy Richmond Flowers and plunges by Richard Pickens. Rosenfelder played four sports at Humboldt High School and graduated third in his class. High on many recruiting lists, he chose to attend UT, then coached by hall of famer Doug Dickey. In addition to being a great lineman, Rosenfelder had strong leadership qualities. “Our offensive line… performed at a higher level of proficiency than I thought possible,” said Coach Dickey. “Rosenfelder, who works as hard on the practice field as in a game, provided a wonderful example for our younger players.” While at UT, Rosenfelder was president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and has since continued his association with that organization. Today, Charles Rosenfelder is Vice President of Lubricants and Specialties with Rogers Petroleum, Inc. in Morristown, Tennessee.
