Biography

Cathy’s career in the financial arena spans over 30 years with Merrill. Her focus is on creating financial solutions before, during and after wealth creation events such as divorce, death, retirement or sale of a business.  Areas of expertise include:  investment management, retirement, educational and legacy planning, home financing, personal lending and insurance. Her clients are comprised of a select group of high net worth individuals and families, retirees, business owners and corporate executives.

Cathy was the first African American female to receive a full scholarship to Vanderbilt University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree.  Her tenure at E.I. DuPont and Textron Aerostructures provided springboards of success that have bred ongoing achievement throughout her 33 years at Merrill. In 2008, she received the designation of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, CRPC ®.  Cathy is an inaugural member of the Merrill Lynch Black African American Financial Advisor Leadership Council.

Cathy served two terms on both the Vanderbilt Alumni Board, the Vanderbilt Athletics Committee and as chair of the Association of Black Alumni.  In 2015, she was inducted into the Vanderbilt Sports Hall of Fame. As co-chair of the Endowed Scholarship Fund for the Association of Vanderbilt Black Alumni, Cathy helped to raise scholarship funds for other minorities. She is currently serving as the inaugural co-chair of the Vanderbilt Black & Gold Club. In her fourth term on the Metropolitan Sports Authority, Cathy was recently elected as Chair. She is a 1996 graduate of leadership Nashville, and a past president of the Parthenon Chapter of the Links, Inc., Bethlehem Centers of Nashville and Renewal House. Cathy is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Pubic Service Sorority and serves as Fund Raising co-chair for the Nashville Alumnae Chapter.  At present, she is co-chair of the Baron’s Society for the National Museum of African American Music scheduled for a 2020 opening in Nashville, TN.

Cathy believes that when we demonstrate mission and vision in the human spirit that the result is enhanced opportunities for achievement and quality of life for others. A couple of her favorite past times are volunteering in the community and attending sporting events. Cathy loves spending time with family and friends.  She is a longtime resident of Hermitage, TN.
