A graduate of Houston High School in Germantown, Tennessee, Cain was the starting pitcher for the San Francisco Giants in the 2010 World Series. In Game 2 of the series, he became the fifth pitcher to pitch at least 20 innings in the post-season without allowing an earned run, earning the nickname “Big Game Cain” among Giants fans. His total post-season stats helped the Giants win their first World Series Championship in San Francisco. Drafted by the Giants in the first round of the 2002 MLB draft, he made his major league debut at the age of 20.
