Sarah Fekete, a native of Maryville, Tennessee, was instrumental in the tremendous 2006 Tennessee Lady Vols softball campaign. Sarah helped lead the team to their second consecutive third-place national finish at the Women’s College World Series. The team had the NCAA Division I-best 61 victories. Sarah, Lady Vol softball center fielder, was named a 2006 NFCA First-Team All-American and led the nation in hitting with a staggering .500 (110-of-220) batting average. She was selected as the 2006 Lady Vol Athlete of the Year and was Tennessee’s nominee for SEC Female Athlete of the Year. Sarah was named First-Team All-South Region, First-Team All-SEC and Academic All-SEC. During the 2006 campaign, Sarah set a new SEC record for single-season hits (110) and completed her career as the all-time Tennessee leader in batting average, on-base percentage and stolen bases while finishing second in runs scored and hits. She was also honored as one of four national finalists for the prestigious Honda Sports Award for Softball.
