Eddie George attended Ohio State University. During the 1995 season, as a senior, George rushed for a school record 1, 927 yards and 24 touchdowns.One of his best performances of the year was in a 45-26 win over Notre Dame, where he rushed for 207 yards, his third 200-yard game of the season. Ohio State finished the season with a 10-2 record and George was recognized as a consensus first team All American and won the 1995 Heisman Trophy in the closest vote in the award’s history at the time.
Eddie George was drafted 14th overall in the first round of the NFL Draft to the then Houston Oilers (now Tennessee Titans) and went on to win NFL Rookie of the Year. With the Titans, George was selected to the Pro-Bowl four times in a row, 1997-2000, and helped his team make it into Super Bowl XXXIV against the St. Louis Rams.
George is the second NFL running back in history behind Walter Payton to rush for 10,000 yards, never missing a start. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2011. His career totals include 10,441 rushing yards, 268 receptions, 2,227 receiving yards and 78 touchdowns: 10 being receiving and 68 rushing. Since retiring from football, George has taken up acting. He most recently appeared on Broadway in the play Chicago as the hustling lawyer Bill Flynn.
