Valek received a Bachelors Degree in Natural Resources at Sewanee.
Valek graduated from Brentwood Academy in 1983, where she was named All-County, and All-Midstate.
In 2004, Valek was inducted as an inaugural member of the Sewanee Sports Hall of Fame.
