Biography

A 1997 Trevecca Nazarene University Hall of Fame inductee, David Suddeth started playing basketball at five years old. He often tagged along with his older brother Reggie to attend basketball games with friends. There, Suddeth learned the game and developed his skills as he competed against his brother’s older and more skilled friends.

Suddeth became one of the best high school players in Nashville in the 1980s while playing for several coaches, including the legendary Cornelius Ridley, at Maplewood High School. Suddeth was named all-city and all-district in high school and helped lead his team to the 1988 State Tournament.

At Trevecca, Suddeth played in 131 basketball games from 1988-1992. He holds at least 14 Trevecca men’s basketball records, including career points (3,004), rebounds (993) and ranks third with 490 assists. Playing for TNU Hall of Fame coach Frank Wilson, Suddeth averaged 14.7 points per game during his freshman season and increased his scoring each season. He averaged 24.4 per game as a sophomore, 25.3 as a junior and 27 points per game as a senior.

Suddeth is a three-time NAIA All-American, All-District 24 and All-TCAC player and attributes much of his success to the phenomenal coaches he had over the years.

Suddeth went on to play for the Jackson Jammers of the Global Basketball Association and later became the site director of the Downtown Nashville YMCA.
