Pete Weber has been the Voice of the Nashville Predators since the franchise’s inaugural season in 1998, becoming one of the most recognizable and beloved figures in Tennessee sports broadcasting. Known for his quick wit, deep hockey knowledge, and signature catchphrases, Weber has narrated the journey of professional hockey in Nashville from its expansion roots to its emergence as a perennial Stanley Cup contender.
A native of Galesburg, Illinois, and a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Weber arrived in Nashville with an extensive broadcasting pedigree. Before joining the Predators, he worked in the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings and Buffalo Sabres, and called games for the NFL’s Buffalo Bills and the NBA’s Seattle SuperSonics. This diverse experience gave the Predators’ broadcast team instant credibility in the franchise’s early years.
For his first 15 seasons, Weber was joined in the booth by Terry Crisp, forming one of the most popular duos in the NHL. Together, they served as “Hockey 101” instructors for a new Southern fan base, translating the nuances of the sport to a rapidly growing audience. Weber’s enthusiastic commentary became the definitive soundtrack for generations of “Smashville” fans.
Throughout his tenure, Weber has called more than 2,000 games, including the team’s first victory, the historic 2017 Western Conference Championship run, and the 2022 NHL Stadium Series. His excellence in the booth has earned him numerous accolades, including being named the Tennessee Sportscaster of the Year multiple times.
Beyond his play-by-play duties, Weber has been a tireless ambassador for hockey across the state, helping grow youth and amateur programs. In 2025, his contributions were further recognized when he and Terry Crisp became the first broadcasters inducted into the Nashville Predators’ Golden Hall. Pete Weber’s passion and professionalism have made him a pillar of the Nashville sports landscape.
