Quarterback Bo Cordell threw his 100th career touchdown pass as Tusculum College defeated visiting Catawba College 43-25 this past Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Field in Greeneville.
The Pioneers (3-2, 1-1 South Atlantic Conference) forced three turnovers and blocked a punt, resulting in three touchdowns. Junior free safety LiRonta Archie tied a single-game school record with two interceptions, while also recovering a fumble to go along with his nine tackles.
Cordell fi nished 28 -for-43 for 424 yards and three touchdowns. He is now tied for 19th in NCAA Division II for most career touchdow ns.
The senior eclipsed 14,000 passing yards for his career and now is at 14,179, third most in Division II history and just 554 yards shy of the record held by Zach Amedro of West Liberty.
Sophomore Justin Houston posted his fourth consecutive game with more than 100 receiving yards, finishing with 114 on 11 catches. Junior Deon Hick s added five receptions for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Tusculum freshman running back Isaac Robinson rushed for 33 yards on seven carries, including two touchdowns, while Fernando Smith added 34 rushing yards on eight attempts and posted his seventh TD rush of the year.
Brian Alexander had a career-high 18 tackles to tie for the third most in school history. He had two for loss and a sack. His 294 career tackles moved him to fifth all-time at Tusculum .
Catawba senior quarterback Danny O’Brien passed for 306 yards and two touchdowns.
