TENNESSEE SPORTS HALL OF FAME
ANNOUNCES ALL 2018 CHAMPION WITHIN RECIPIENTS
NASHVILLE, TN., April 11, 2018 — The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame announced today the recipients of the 2018 Champion Within Awards to be presented on Saturday, June 16th at the Omni Nashville.
The 2018 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Champion Within Luncheon
“Inspiring us to see the possible in the impossible”
will honor the following:
- Joe Este – Character Award Recipient UT Martin football standout, NFL prospect. Made the courageous decision to raise his nephews as his sons and begin adoption proceedings while juggling life as a college student-athlete while at UTM.
- Chad NeSmith – Perseverance Award Recipient Won numerous tournaments including the United States Blind Golf Association National Championship. His National Champion title caught the eyes of many and earned him invitations to the Irish Blind Golfers Association Open, Australian Blind Golfers Association Open and the Vision Cup.
- Curtis Watson – Life of a Champion Award Recipient From the football fields in Crossville and Knoxville to the prestigious Blue Angels.
- Leslie Burnett – Heart of a Champion Award Recipient 30-year Special Olympian, multi-sport champion and selection for the 2011 World Games in Athens Greece.
The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, a 501c3 pays tribute to all those who have made an impact through sports in Tennessee. The Hall subscribes to the principle that sports serve society’s highest ideals by educating and shaping youth. It promotes the virtues of competition, fair play, friendship, solidarity, mutual understanding and respect for human dignity. The best way to honor our sports legends is to pass this legacy down to future generations.
The awards will be presented at Champion Within Luncheon on
Saturday, June 16, 2018, at the Omni Nashville.
