All-Time Leading Titans Receiver Derrick Mason Announced as 2025 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Inductee

NASHVILLE, TN – January 29, 2025 – Former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Derrick Mason has been named to the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2025. Mason was surprised with the announcement by Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Executive Director Brad Willis during Mason’s radio show on WPRT-FM in Nashville. The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, sponsored by the Tennessee Lottery, celebrates the state’s rich sports heritage and honors those who have made a lasting impact within their communities.

“Derrick Mason was not only one of the most consistent and dynamic wide receivers in NFL history, but his contributions to the Titans and the Nashville community make him a true legend,” said Brad Willis, Executive Director of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. “His work on the field and off exemplifies everything we look for in a Hall of Famer. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2025.”

Mason was born in Detroit, Michigan, and played college football at Michigan State University, where he set records as a wide receiver and kick returner. Mason was drafted in the fourth round of the 1997 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Oilers. Over a 15-year NFL career, Mason became one of the league’s most reliable receivers, recording eight 1,000-yard receiving seasons.

Mason spent the majority of his career with the Titans (1997–2004), where he became a key offensive weapon. He was named First-Team All-Pro in 2000, was a two-time Pro Bowl selection (2000, 2003) and played a pivotal role in the Titans’ run to Super Bowl XXXIV. Mason remains the franchise leader in receptions and receiving yards, solidifying his legacy as one of the greatest Titans of all time.

Off the field, Mason has been actively involved in charitable efforts, particularly focusing on youth mentorship and education initiatives in the Nashville area. His dedication to giving back has further cemented his reputation as a role model in the Tennessee community.

For over a decade, Mason has also worked as a media personality, offering his insights on professional football as a radio host and analyst, connecting fans with the game he loves.

Mason joins Stephen Gostkowski, Larry Kenon, Priscilla Gary Sweeney, the late Ronnie Robinson, the late Phillip Clark, Doug Mathews, Deon Grant, Tony Allen, Elston Turner, George Pitts, and Bob Brown as announced members of the Class of 2025. The full 2025 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class will be released in the coming weeks.

The 2025 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony, presented by the Tennessee Titans, will take place on Saturday, July 19th, at the Omni Nashville Downtown. Ticket information will be announced soon.
