Former Memphis Tiger and NFL Star Tim Harris Announced as 2023 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Inductee

NASHVILLE, TN – March 3, 2023 – Former Memphis Football and NFL linebacker Tim Harris has been named a member of the 2023 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Class. The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame pays homage to the state’s rich sports history and their impact within the community. On behalf of sponsor Tennessee Lottery, the Hall offers free admission at their downtown Nashville location Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Tim Harris’ career led him from Memphis to the NFL, and he excelled at every level,” said Brad Willis, Executive Director of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. “A Super Bowl champion player, and a great representative of the Memphis Tigers, Tim’s inclusion in the Class of 2023 is well deserved.”

Harris was a four-year letterwinner for the Memphis Tigers football team and earned All-Metro Conference honors for three straight seasons. When Harris left Memphis, he held team records for tackles for loss in a game, season, and a career, and continues to rank among the top 10 in the Tiger record book in solo and assisted tackles and quarterback sacks. Harris was drafted in the fourth round of the 1986 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers and went on to a 10-year career with stops in San Francisco and Philadelphia. Harris was part of the 1994 49ers team that won Super Bowl XXIX. Harris was named to the 1989 Pro Bowl and was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 2022.

Harris joins former Predators Captain Mike Fisher, MTSU baseball legend Steve Smith, golfer Loren Roberts, Bristol Motor Speedway Co-Founder Carl R. Moore, ETSU Basketball Coach and Athletics Director Les Robinson, and Lady Vol Track star and Olympic Gold Medalist Tianna Madison as 2023 Inductees. The full 2023 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class will be released over the coming weeks.

The 2023 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony, presented by the Tennessee Titans, will be held Saturday, July 22nd at the Omni Nashville Downtown. Ticket information will be announced at a later date.
