Mike grew up in Kingston, TN and graduated from Roane County High School. He was baptized and joined the First Baptist Church in Kingston as a very young boy. Mike attended The University of Tennessee Knoxville and earned his BS and MS degrees in Education. He was a student athletic trainer for UTAD for four years while earning his degrees. Following graduation he was hired by UT Athletic Dept. as an Athletic Trainer holding different job duties for over 30 years. Mike retired in 2007 as head Trainer in Sports Medicine. Dedicated to his job at all times he made many friends over his 34 years at UT and all over America. Mike was known to be kind and generous to a fault and ready to assist and help any student athlete or student trainer in need. Mike had a special love for all children and was especially interested in children with special needs. Know by for being an avid reader and his deep love for his feline pets and all baby animals. Mike was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Guy W. and Mary M. Jonas of Kingston; and his uncle, James of Michigan. He is survived by his mother, Mary R.
