Legendary ETSU Basketball and Athletics Director Les Robinson Announced as 2023 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Inductee

NASHVILLE, TN – February 24, 2023 – Former ETSU and NC State Basketball Coach and Athletics Director Les Robinsonhas been named a member of the 2023 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Class. The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame pays homage to the state’s rich sports history and their impact within the community. On behalf of sponsor Tennessee Lottery, the Hall offers free admission at their downtown Nashville location Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Coach Robinson left his mark on ETSU, as well as NC State and The Citadel,” said Brad Willis, Executive Director of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. “We’re excited that he’s been chosen as part of our Class of 2023.”

In five seasons with the Buccaneers, Robinson led ETSU to two NCAA Tournaments, securing berths in 1989 and 1990 following Southern Conference Tournament titles. Robinson ended his tenure at ETSU with 81 wins, two SoCon Tournament titles and one regular season championship. In 1990, Robinson was named SoCon Coach of the Year after leading the Bucs to a 27-7 overall record. ETSU finished 12-2 in conference play. Robinson later went on to become Head Basketball Coach at NC State. Robinson also served as Director of Athletics at ETSU, The Citadel, and NC State.

Moore joins former Predators Captain Mike Fisher, MTSU baseball legend Steve Smith, Bristol Motor Speedway Co- Founder Carl R. Moore, and Lady Vol Track star and Olympic Gold Medalist Tianna Madison as 2023 Inductees. The full 2023 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class will be released over the coming weeks.

The 2023 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony, presented by the Tennessee Titans, will be held Saturday, July 22nd at the Omni Nashville Downtown. Ticket information will be announced at a later date.
