NASHVILLE, TN – March 2, 2023 – Former PGA Tour and PGA Champions Tour golfer Loren Roberts has been named a member of the 2023 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Class. Roberts was surprised with the news of his induction Thursday evening during a Youth Programs Inc. Board of Directors meeting in Memphis. Executive Director Brad Willis and TSHF Vice-Chairman Harold Graeter, along with TSHF Board Member Jack Sammons surprised Roberts with the news. The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame pays homage to the state’s rich sports history and their impact within the community. On behalf of sponsor Tennessee Lottery, the Hall offers free admission at their downtown Nashville location Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“It’s exciting to induct a golfer the caliber of Loren Roberts into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame ,” said Brad Willis, Executive Director of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. “Loren joins a class that is star-studded from top-to-bottom, and we couldn’t be happier about his inclusion in the Class of 2023.”
Known as the “Boss of the Moss” for his putting skills, Roberts won 8 PGA Tour events and 13 PGA Champions Tour events, including 2 Senior British Opens. Additionally, Roberts played for the US in the 1994 and 2000 Presidents Cup and the 1995 Ryder Cup. Roberts is a huge supporter of Tennessee Junior Golf and was inducted into the Tennessee Golf Hall of Fame in 2006. He and his family reside in Germantown.
Roberts joins former Predators Captain Mike Fisher, MTSU baseball legend Steve Smith, Bristol Motor Speedway Co- Founder Carl R. Moore, ETSU Basketball Coach and Athletics Director Les Robinson, and Lady Vol Track star and Olympic Gold Medalist Tianna Madison as 2023 Inductees. The full 2023 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class will be released over the coming weeks.
The 2023 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony, presented by the Tennessee Titans, will be held Saturday, July 22nd at the Omni Nashville Downtown. Ticket information will be announced at a later date.
