August 11th, 2015

Louis DeBusk, the father of Tusculum athletic director and football coach Frankie DeBusk, died Thursday in Bristol following a lengthy illness. He was 77.

DeBusk, affectionately known by many as “Big Coach”, was a volunteer assistant football coach at Tusculum for the past 17 years, assisting the Pioneers in a variety of roles.

He coordinated game-day preparations, including road trips.

Mr. DeBusk was also responsible for leading the Pioneers onto the field before each home game, toting the Tusculum flag from the back of his golf cart, a tradition Mr. DeBusk started when Frankie DeBusk was hired 18 years ago.

DeBusk is survived by his wife Faye, and sons Frankie and Doug.

Funeral services will take place Sunday at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Chuch in Greeneville. Graveside services follow at Graceland Memorial Gardens in Afton.
