A Night to Remember: Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2025 Banquet a Tremendous Success
The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2025 Induction Banquet, presented by the Tennessee Titans, was a night filled with pride, emotion, and celebration. On Saturday, July 19, a capacity crowd gathered at the Omni Nashville Downtown to honor an extraordinary class of inductees and special award winners who embody the best of Tennessee’s sports tradition.
Honoring Legends Across Generations
The Class of 2025 featured a remarkable group of athletes, coaches, and leaders whose influence spans across decades and sports. This year’s inductees included Tony Allen, Joe Behling, Bob Brown, Tamika Catchings, Phillip Clark, Stephen Gostkowski, Deon Grant, Chamique Holdsclaw, Jack Jenkins, Andy Kelly, Larry Kenon, Derrick Mason, Doug Mathews, George Pitts, Ronnie Robinson, Ron Slay, Priscilla Gary Sweeney, Elston Turner, Shea Weber, and Chris Woodruff. Their stories, shared on stage throughout the evening, reflected the perseverance, talent, and character that define Tennessee sports.
Special Honors and Achievement Awards
In addition to the induction class, the Hall recognized outstanding achievements across the sports landscape:

Tennessean of the Year – NASA astronaut and Mount Juliet native Captain Barry “Butch” Wilmore, who returned to Earth earlier this year after commanding the International Space Station. His achievements remind us that Tennessee excellence stretches far beyond our borders—and even beyond our atmosphere.

Pat Summitt Lifetime Achievement Award – Rick Barnes, head coach of Tennessee Men’s Basketball, honored for his leadership, success, and lasting impact on young athletes.

Professional Athlete of the Year – Reed Blankenship, Middle Tennessee State University alum and standout safety for the Philadelphia Eagles. The award was accepted on his behalf by MTSU Athletics Director Chris Massaro.

Amateur Teams of the Year – Union University Women’s Basketball, Tennessee Baseball (2024 College World Series Champions), and Chattanooga Men’s Basketball (2025 NIT Champions).

Amateur Athletes of the Year – Olivia Reeves, an Olympic weightlifter who continues to raise the bar for Team USA, and Seth Henigan, University of Memphis quarterback, honored for his leadership and on-field excellence.

With honorees representing professional, collegiate, and high school athletics, the night offered something for everyone and reminded attendees of the Hall’s mission to preserve and celebrate Tennessee’s rich sports heritage.
