NASHVILLE, TN— Dr. Bill Emendorfer, Executive Director of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame was thrilled to present the scholarship to Taino Fears-Perez”. Taino success is the product of hard work and dedication to the sports he loves. He has also maintained academic excellence, which will serve him well in training future athletes. It is student athletes like Taino that display the values the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame “Champion Within Program “hope to spread to youth across the state.”
· Taino Fears-Perez, from Knoxville, TN is a senior at The University of Tennessee at Martin and a member of the UT Martin football team. Fears-Perez comes from a family of athletes, who love competition and thrive in the midst of adversity. His mother, a standout out track star in high school and a grandfather, who still is talked about as a local legend on the ball park diamond in Knoxville, TN. Sports allowed him to cultivate his Faith in organizations like FCA and learn from some of the best coaches and individuals. Because of his love and passion for the atmosphere of athletics, he is pursuing his degree in Exercise Science and Wellness with the ambition of becoming a Strength and Conditioning coach and eventually one day opening his own state of the art training sports facility.
“I know that because of my background in sports, I won’t just be successful in life; I will be a winner at everything I do. The diversity of sports have ultimately made me understand that as an individual I have so much to offer and that if I push and press forward I have the capacity to reach and touch others universally just like sports does.”
