Third shutout in a row for Lady Vols

Julie Eckel and the Tennessee defense posted their third consecutive shutout and the Lady Vols won their third straight game by a 2-0 score, this time against Mercer on Sunday in Macon, Ga.

Eckel stopped nine Mercer shots on goal, and seven corner kicks.

Tennessee’s (5-1- 0) first goal was by Tori Bailey in the 22nd minute from about three yards out from the top of the box on an assist by Hannah Wilkinson. Wilkinson scored the second goal in the 89th minute on a penalty kick when Mercer (2-3-0) goalkeeper Maggie Cropp collided with her on a breakaway. Wilkinson put the penalty kick in the upper right hand corner for her fifth goal of the season.

Wilkinson has scored a goal in four straight games and has a goal and an assist in two straight games.
