Tommy West looks like a coach with no worries.
A head coach and defensive coordinator for the past 24 years, West is now a position coach for the first time since tutoring the running backs at his alma mater, Tennessee, in 1990. And his rejuvenation is unmistakable.
“This is just awesome,” West said of his debut as Middle Tennessee State’s defensive line coach in spring practice. “I don’t have to worry about talking to you guys (media) after every practice. I don’t have to worry about what defense to call. All I have to worry about is coaching the D-line.
“It’s different and it’s great.”
