A large group of supporters gathered for a ceremonial groundbreaking of the Burnis “Wild Bill” Wright sports complex behind the Milan Polk Clark Enrichment Center Saturday morning, Sept. 2. Organizers plan to construct recreational fields for different youth sports activities. The site is dedicated to the late Burnis Bill Wright, who graduated from the former Milan school and had a career in professional baseball from the 1930s into the 1950s. In June, Wright became the first Milan native to be inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.
